Interior consultations are completed in one appointment and can take 1-2 hours, depending on the number of rooms and our discussion.
The collaboration starts when I arrive. Together, we will walk through the rooms with which you want my help. You’ll tell me a bit about how you use each room and the mood that you want those rooms to have, i.e. restful, fun, friendly, casual, elegant, and so forth.
Then with my notes in hand, I’ll ask for a few minutes in a quiet space, and I’ll start to build a color palette based on our discussion. For interiors, I specify Benjamin Moore paint. I always incorporate the architecture of the space, the flow of rooms, current finishes and furnishings, and natural light into my creative process. Once I have an initial palette picked out, I’ll ask you to join me again, and we’ll do a second walk-through – only this time, I’ll show you the colors I think will work, and I’ll show you why they work.
Collaboration is especially important as I show colors. If anything isn’t right, just let me know – you cannot hurt my feelings by saying something isn’t working for you! I do my best to anticipate your needs, but I need your partnership and input to make sure we get to the perfect colors for you.
Once we have settled on the complete color palette, I’ll return to my studio to create your color map and email it to you within 2-3 business days.
Price for Interior Color Consultations – includes color choices for walls, trim, and cabinets/built-ins.
1-4 rooms: $300 (about 1 hour in person)
5-8 rooms: $550 (1.5 to 2 hours in person)
Hourly rate for additional rooms or consultation time billed at quarter-hour increments.
*If you are changing your hard surfaces — floors, counters, etc. — and you need color advice for those items, you’ll need to have already chosen your materials and have samples ready at our appointment. If you’re unsure about what materials you want, I would love to help you, but I will do that work under a separate, hourly contract.
